Fraud cases should be noticed "immediately"

07/02/2008

Consumers across the UK should notify their bank "immediately" if they become the victim of credit card fraud, an industry expert has urged.

As the number of cases of online fraud - which unwittingly leads to credit card debt - increases, people should be more vigilant about how and when they use their cards, life assistance company CPP stated.

The internet helps the credit card fraudster become "faceless", adding to the mystery behind the crime, Danny Harrison, a security expert at CPP, said.

Mr Harrison added: "Credit card fraud is moving more and more in to becoming what`s viewed as a victimless crime. If you are concerned as to where your cards are you should contact your bank immediately."

According to research by CPP, London is the worst location for credit and debt card fraud and debt.
