Managing finances online can help fight against debt
15/09/2009
Moneysupermarket.com has claimed that managing their personal finances online can save consumers around £500 a year, according to The Telegraph, helping to protect against debt in a difficult economic climate.
The price comparison site`s research cited a range of services, such as home utilities, savings accounts and insurance, that were simply more economical online.
The research follows a report by uSwitch that claimed people paying for energy once a quarter by cash or cheque were paying on average £224 a year more than people who managed their accounts online.
A spokesperson for Debt Advisers Direct said: "For people in debt, finding the cheapest deals on essential services - and the best interest rates - can make a huge difference. In this case, £500 saved is £500 more to put towards debt repayments.
"Of course, finding cheaper deals alone won`t be enough to help everybody`s situation. Anyone struggling to manage their debts should seek advice from an expert debt adviser."
